Top Melbourne trainer Mick Price is expecting three year old Prince Of Brooklyn to find his early two year old form and fire during the upcoming Winter months.

Prince Of Brooklyn was undefeated from two runs as a two year old late in the season with a win in the Group 3 $115,000 Seven News National Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on May 16, 2015 and followed that with a win in the $100,000 VOBIS Gold Elvstroem Classic (1300m) at Swan Hill three weeks later.

But the Magnus three year old colt was unplaced from two runs in the Spring and Price admits that he was struggling to get the best out of the colt.

“I don’t know what to do with him,” Price told racing.com.

“It was good to see him with a clean set of lungs because I had a lot of trouble with him – he’s a horse that maybe suffers from allergies.

“He had me confused that horse – I had a really good opinion of him.”

Prince Of Brooklyn resumed from a spell last Saturday for a second with apprentice Ben Thompson in the saddle to Firsthand in the $80,000 Kane Construction Handicap for three year olds over 1200m and while Price was happy to see him show some form, he is still undecided what his pet distance will be.

“He’s a full brother to Duke Of Brunswick so I’m not sure if he gets a mile or is a good 1200m horse.” Price said.

“I haven’t quite nailed that horse yet.

“I just need to get him winning a bit. Get him back in form.”

Prince Of Brooklyn has earned his connections just over $177,000 for his two wins and a second from five race starts.
