Price Dreams Of Victory In Caulfield Feature

Heart Of Dreams

Heart Of Dreams is set to resume in the Group 2 Memsie Stakes

Heart Of Dreams is set to resume in tomorrow’s feature at Caulfield after a consistent performance in this year’s autumn carnival.

The Show A Heart gelding found autumn glory with a two and a half length win over a quality field in the Group 2 St George Stakes in February.

Heart Of Dreams also finished a nose short of an upset win over Typhoon Tracy in her career swansong in the C.F. Orr Stakes last season.

Trainer Mick Price believes tomorrow’s Group 2 Memsie Stakes weight-for-age conditions are perfectly suited to Heart Of Dreams.

“He’s very well suited,” Price said.

“He nearly picked up Typhoon Tracey (in the WFA C.F. Orr Stakes) this year in a Group 1.

“He carries weight-for-age no problem.

“He’s in good order, he’s a lovely sound horse.”

Heart Of Dreams travelled to Queensland last start for an unsuccessful attempt at the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast.

Price said Heart Of Dreams did not handle the trip north and lost too much weight to be competitive.

“He’d been away before but he just got too light,” he said.

Mick Price will also line up six-year-old Acorns in Caulfield’s Listed Slickpix Stakes.

The trainer is hopeful that the pace will suit Acorn as he prepares to step up in grade.

“On paper it looks like it’s going to be a pretty fast run,” Price said.

“I hope they go hard.

“If Acorns was in the same races as he was last time.. .he’d go and win.

“He’s flying in himself, he’s going well.”

While Price was hoping for easier company than the likes of Avenue and Atomic Force, the trainer’s only other option would be the Bobbie Lewis Quality next weekend.

“If I don’t run here there’s only the Bobbie Lewis next week,” he said.

The final race of the day will see Price’s Rightfully Yours have his second-up start of the spring.

Price gave Rightfully Yours a brief freshen up after he finished 13th at Eagle Farm in June.

“We gave him a nice little break,” Price said.

“The problem with him is he hasn’t won for a year.

“We’ve taken him out of the black type and put him back in a handicap with a claim.

“We’re just trying to get him to win.

“He’s going to have a nice run in the race but he has to hit the line like he used to.

“He’s in good nick and he’ll run well.”
