Mick Price has Ready For Victory and Tarzino in the 2015 Caulfield Guineas field and the leading Melbourne trainer is bullish about both his chances in the Group 1 event that will be held at Caulfield on Saturday.

Ready For Victory’s Caulfield Guineas odds lengthened substantially after he failed to fire in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26 and most experts consider Tarzino a better Victoria Derby chance than a Caulfield Guineas chance, but Price believes that the two colts give him his best ever chance of winning a maiden Caulfield Guineas.
“I think these are my best chances going into a Caulfield Guineas,” Price told the media at trackwork.
“We ran third one year with Kempinsky who was a Derby horse in the Caulfield Guineas and these two are my best chances and they are very good chances.
“I have full respect for Press Statement, but it is a Caulfield Guineas and they don’t give them away.”
Glen Boss has been booked to ride Ready For Victory after regular jockey Damien Oliver was ruled out due to suspension and the talented hoop got the opportunity to partner the three-year-old at trackwork this morning.
Ready For Victory worked alongside Tarzino with the blinkers on this morning and Boss was delighted with the More Than Ready colt’s final serious piece of work before the 2015 Caulfield Guineas this weekend.
“He is really good, he is an outstanding colt,” Price said.
“It was the first time with blinkers on that I rode him, I rode him a couple of times earlier in his prep without blinkers on and you always had that feeling he was that type of colt.
“Obviously the blinkers go on for the grand final and he was pretty impressive in his work this morning.”
Tarzino is set to have just his fourth race start in the Caulfield Guineas and he has come a long way since he made his racing debut with a third place finish at Pakenham on July 5.
The Tavistock colt recorded his maiden race win at Ballarat on August 27 and he stamped himself as a genuine Caulfield Guineas contender when he stormed home late to win The Cove Hotel Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on September 19.
Craig Newitt has been booked to ride Tarzino in the Caulfield Guineas and he is set to receive a dream run in transit from barrier three, but he is still available at 2015 Caulfield Guineas odds of $41.
