The 2015 Caulfield Guineas barrier draw has been held and dominant favourite Press Statement is set to jump from barrier 14 in the Group 1 event that will be held at Caulfield on Saturday.

Press Statement stamped himself as a dominant favourite for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) when he recorded a comfortable three lengths victory in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 26, but his task was made tougher when he was allocated the wide draw this morning.

Jockey Hugh Bowman will likely be forced to go further back on Press Statement than he would have liked and history is now against the three-year-old as no horse has won the Caulfield Guineas from barrier 14 in the last 30 years.

Another horse that had no luck at the 2015 Caulfield Guineas barrier draw was Champagne Stakes placegetter Odyssey Moon, who is set to jump from barrier 13 with Steven Arnold on his back.

Trainer Rodney Northam revealed this morning that he was keen to draw an inside gate with Odyssey Moon, but his request was not met and he is likely to need some luck in running to record a maiden win at Group 1 level.

Mike Moroney-trained Tulsa will jump from the outside of the Caulfield Guineas field after being allocated barrier 16, while Team Hawkes-trained Rageese, Caulfield Guineas Prelude winner Bon Aurum, Godolphin-owned Shards and the promising Snoopy will also jump from the second half of the field.

One of the big winners of the 2015 Caulfield Guineas barrier draw was trainer Mick Price after both Tarzino (barrier three) and Ready For Victory (barrier four) both received perfect barrier draws.

Tarzino is set to have just his fourth race start in the Caulfield Guineas, but he stamped himself as a horse to follow during the spring when he recorded a most impressive win in The Cove Hotel Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on September 19.

Ready For Victory was the one-time favourite for the Caulfield Guineas after he ran well without receiving any luck in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 29 and the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 12, but his odds lengthened substantially following his flop in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

Barrier one has  produced seven of the last 30 winners of the Caulfield Guineas and Lindsay Park-trained Sovereign Nation will jump from the inside gate in his fourth race start, while Last Bullet (barrier six), Lizard Island (barrier two), Kentucky Flyer (barrier five) and More Than Most (barrier seven) also fared well at the barrier draw.
