Preferment one of 4 Waller runners in The 2016 BMW field

Last start Australian Cup winner Preferment is one of four horses from the Chris Waller stable in the final field for the Group 1 $1.5m The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Waller will also saddle up Who Shot Thebarman, Grand Marshall and Storm The Stars.

Preferment is back in Sydney after winning the Group 1 $1.5m Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 12 on protest and has drawn nicely at barrier four in the ten horse field with Hugh Bowman sticking with the four year old.

Who Shot Thebarman and Grand Marshal are starting to find some form now that they are racing over suitable distances and the 2400m of The BMW will suit then better than their last start third and fifth respectively in the Group 3 $350,000 Sky High Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on March 12.

Blake Shinn takes over from Christian Reith on Who Shot Thebarman who has drawn barrier seven while Jason Collett has retained the mount on Grand Marshall who will jump from gate three.

English import Storm The Stars, barrier nine, will also appreciate the step up to 2400m and will be backing up after finishing at the tail of the nine horse field in the Group 1 $700,000 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

The Anthony Cummings trained Montaigne is the only three year old in weight for age The BMW and is also backing up week to week after running second to Tarzino in the Group 1 $600,000 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

Damien Oliver takes over from Blake Shinn on Montaigne who has drawn well at gate two.

German import Our Ivanhowe will kick off his Sydney Autumn Carnival in The BMW after racing in Melbourne in the first part of his Autumn campaign and has drawn wide at gate eight with Kerrin McEvoy to ride.

Our Ivanhowe produced a handy first up fifth to Bow Creek in the Group 2 $200,000 Crown Golden Ale Peter Young Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on February 27 when held up for a run in the straight and then was only beaten one and a half lengths when fifth to Preferment in the Australian Cup.

Trainers Lee and Anthony Freedman have opted to remove the blinkers from the six year old for The BMW and replace them with a visor.

The Lindsay Park team off David Hayes and Tom Dabernig have two runners, Almoonqith, barrier five with Michael Waler to ride, and Rising Romance, barrier 1 with Craig Williams in the saddle.

2015 Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan is backing up this week after running fifth to The United States in the Ranvet Stakes and will jump from gate six with Opie Bosson in the saddle.

The Murray Baker trained Kiwi stayer will wear a crossover nose band for the first time in The BMW.
