Positive Magic Millions Guineas Barrier Draw For Hijack Hussy

Talented filly Hijack Hussy has drawn ideally in the 2015 Magic Millions Guineas barrier draw and will jump from barrier six in the $1 million event at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Hijack Hussy won over the 1400 track at the Gold Coast on October 4 in the Perimeter Solid Plastering Handicap (1400m) before she made the trip to Melbourne and won the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

The Hussonet filly went into the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben on December 6 as a clear favourite, but was forced to settle at the tail of the field before working home strongly to finish third behind Savoureux and Tales Of Fashion.

Hijack Hussy was once again forced to settle at the tail of the field when she finished second in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) at the Gold Coast on December 27, but jockey Tim Bell should be able to settle the three-year-old in a more positive position from barrier six in the Magic Millions Guineas.

Trainer Tony Gollan would also have been happy with the barrier draws of Fixation (barrier two) and Yeager (barrier three), while last start winner Vienna Royale will jump from barrier 12.

Testashadow is rated one of the major dangers to Hijack Hussy in the 2015 Magic Millions Guineas field, but will likely need some luck in running after he was allocated barrier 13 for the $1 million event.

The Testa Rossa gelding started his summer preparation with a fourth place finish in the Inglis Yearling Sale (1400m) at Randwick on November 22 and he was narrowly denied a second race win in the Dissident At Newgate Farm Plate (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on December 6 before he returned to winning form with a brave effort in the Cellarbrations Handicap (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on December 20.

While horses starting from barriers outside of the inside ten have a poor record in the Magic Millions Classic, the likes of Torio’s Quest (barrier 16 in 2011) and Sweet Idea (barrier 13 last year) defied wide draws to win the Magic Millions Guineas in recent years.

The likes of David Payne-trained Bold Circle (barrier 17), the lightly-raced Murt The Flirt (barrier 19) and Chris Waller-trained Liberty Island will also need some luck in running after drawing wide gates in the 2015 Magic Millions Guineas barrier draw, while Wyong Magic Millions Stakes winner Aerobar (barrier four) and local hope Tales Of Fashion (barrier five) both drew ideally.
