Politeness contested a jump out over 800 metres at Sandown this morning and jumped straight to the front out of the barriers before running away from her rivals without being asked for an extra effort.

Trainer Robert Smerdon told TVN that he was happy with the way that Politeness performed in the jump out this morning ahead of the Summoned Stakes and said that he is thrilled with the way she has bounced back from her tough run in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on November 1.

“There aren’t many better patches of turf than Sandown (Sportingbet Park) so it was ideal to take her there for a hit-out,” Smerdon said.

“Down the back it is a straight run, no turns, no crossings, just a nice incline so it is perfect to work horses on.

“She hasn’t missed a beat since the Myer Classic, she has come along nice and this looks a perfect race for her.

“There is forecast for some rain and it is the more the merrier with her because she loves the sting out of the ground.”

Politeness finished her 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign with a strong win over Cosmic Endeavour in the Group 3 Bell Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick during The Championships and has performed well without winning in her four race starts this preparation.

The Street Sense mare returned to racing with a fast-finishing fourth in the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on September 20 and she had no luck when fourth in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 4.

Politeness produced the worst performance of her preparation when fifth in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m), but returned to a semblance of her best form when she finished an unlucky seventh behind Bonaria in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m).

The Summoned Stakes is set to be one of the most exciting races at Sandown on Saturday after 30 fillies and mares were included in the nominations for the Group 3 event.

She’s Clean, Estonian Princess, Griante, Koe and Secret Toy Bizness are all set to carry the equal top weight of 58 kilograms along with Politeness, while the likes of Rose Of Choice, Ava’s Delight, Belle De Coeur and Nautical remain a chance of contesting the $150,000 race.
