Platinum Kingdom handled the conditions to perfection and raced away in the straight on the heavy track to score an easy win over Casual Choice and Limes, even after ducking out noticeably at the fifty metre mark.

Bruce Herd, representing trainer Lisa Latta, said that Platinum Kingdom will now head to Brisbane to contest the three year old races over the Winter Carnival.

“The conditions probably played into his favour today and it’s good to see him get his just rewards today,” Herd said.

“He will probably end up going to Brisbane from here, we’ve got some more coming over and onwards and upwards.”

New Zealand jockey Jonathan Riddell rode a patient race on the three year old and shortly after leader Heart Testa shot away at the top of the rise, Platinum Kingdom picked up the bit and raced up on the inside to pull away to score a one and a quarter lengths win.

Platinum Kingdom started at $12 with runner-up Casual Choice at $5 with $4.20 favourite Limes running on strongly for third.

The Magnus three year old was a winner of seven races from fifteen starts prior to today’s win including a couple of Listed races.
