Petits Filous is undefeated from four race starts and Maher is taking this opportunity to step her up to Group 1 company following her recent wins in the Group 3 $150,000 Lister Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 15 and in the Listed $120,000 Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on September 12.

“She is another horse that has just continued to improve,” Maher told RSN Racing.

“She has been up and racing for a little while, but she has had little breaks and good spacing between her racing and she seems in really good order and I am quite happy with her.”

Glen Boss takes over from regular rider Damien Oliver who was unable to get down to the 51kg that Petits Filous has to carry under the weight for age conditions.

Boss got a feel of the three year old filly on Tuesday and Maher said that the top Melbourne jockey was impressed with her early morning hit out over 800m.

“He rode her yesterday morning. She didn’t need to do a lot, just bowled around and did a nice piece of work over half a mile,” Maher said.

“He liked what he felt and she come through that in good order.”

“She has drawn nicely, so hopefully she can get a nice run and continue her way.”

Even though Petits Filous is taking on Group 1 winners Buffering and Flamberge for the first time, bookmakers at Ladbrokes.com.au still installed her as the short priced $2.50 favourite for the Moir Stakes.

The Robert Smerdon trained Fontiton, the other three year old filly in the race, is on the second line of betting at $4.60 ahead of last year’s winner Buffering at $7.50.

Moir Stakes market order at Ladbrokes.com.au: $2.50 Petits Filous, $4.60 Fontiton, $7.50 Buffering, $9 Ball Of Muscle, $10 Flamberge, $11 Angelic Light, $19 Griante, $31 Miss Promiscuity, Headwater, $34 Le Bonsir, $41 Brook Road, $51 Sterling City, Rain Affair.
