Petits Filous made it four wins from as many starts with a convincing victory in the 2015 Cap D’Antibes Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

Petits Filous jumped from the gates quickly, but jockey Damien Oliver opted to restrain the talented filly in the early stages of the race and she was settled behind Take Pride and Strykum.
Oliver patiently waited on Petits Filous, but she exploded when she was asked for an extra effort and she ran away from her rivals to record another dominant win in the Cap D’Antibes Stakes.
Oliver has ridden plenty of talented gallopers during his stellar career in the saddle, but he was glowing in praise for Petits Filous and he believes that the daughter of Street Boss is up there with the best fillies that he has ever ridden.
“She is pure quality and she ranks up there with the best of them,” Oliver said.
“She has got electrifying brilliance.
“She came back better today, relaxed a little bit and then quickened when I wanted her.
“She is all class.
“She has never let us down yet and when you ask for her she really responds like a really top horse.
“She has a lot of quality about her.”
Trainer Ciaron Maher admitted after the race that he was unsure exactly how Petits Filous would handle the famous Flemington straight, but he was thrilled with the way that the talented filly settled before letting down in the final stages.
Maher planned on giving Petits Filous a light spring campaign, but he is now considering giving the three-year-old an opportunity against the colts and geldings in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.
“She just keeps taking the next step,” Maher said.
“Down the straight you never really know how they are going to handle it, but she looked like she settled a little bit better today.
“We will just see how she pulls up.
“We paid up the late nom for the Blue Sapphire just to give us that option and if the times are pretty quick here today we might map a plan into the Coolmore.
“If we were going to race on further into the spring probably a race like the Coolmore and she could have a little gap in between and we will space her runs.”
Petits Filous has now recorded four wins from as many race starts since she made her racing debut with a dominant six lengths victory in the Telstra Phonewords Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley on July 15.
