Peter Moody is looking to take over a small base of stables at Rosehill

Top trainer Peter Moody is in line to take over a small base of stables at Rosehill Gardens from January 1st next year.

Moody, who has seen his stable flourish during recent months, is hoping to acquire the 10 boxes made available by trainer Tim Martin.

Moody has enjoyed success with super mare Black Caviar, amongst many others, during the recent spring racing carnival.

Having an established base in Sydney would provide Moody with a simple means of targeting a variety of Sydney races throughout the year.

Martin has been a close friend of Moody’s for many years and is hopeful the Australian Turf Club will approve the Victorian’s application.

“I’ve known Peter for years and we get on well,” Martin said.

“He always stables with me when he comes up so the staff are familiar with the stables and the set-up, and his horses are familiar with the set-up.”

Martin made the decisions to vacate his Rosehill stables in order to focus on a select number of talented horses.

“I thought I’d cut the team down and focus on a more select crew,” Martin said.

“I’m getting some quality horses around me and I’ve been working hard on doing that.”
