Global Flirt recorded the biggest win of his racing career to date when he took out the Listed Tattersall’s Cup (2100m) at Ascot on Saturday and trainer Justin Warwick has now set the veteran gelding for a third tilt at the Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m).

Global Flirt started the Tattersall’s Cup at the lengthy odds of $60, but jockey William White elected to be positive on the son of McFlirt and he took up the running on the eight-year-old in the early stages of the race.

White opted to give up the lead at the 1200 metre mark and settled Global Flirt in a lovely position on the rails before the gelding responded extremely well when asked for an extra effort to record a comfortable one length victory from Son Of Something and Kirov Boy.

Warwick told Perth Racing that Global Flirt had come through his Tattersalls Club victory extremely well and he confirmed that the tough gelding would run in the Listed Towton Cup (2200m) at Ascot on December 6 before heading towards the 2015 Perth Cup on New Year’s Day.

“He has pulled up super,” Warwick said.

“Not a lot worries him, so he will now continue to the Queens Cup.

“We will press on to the Perth Cup, he’s run a third and a sixth in the race before.”

Global Flirt has now recorded two wins at Listed level following his Tattersall’s Cup victory, but he is still chasing a maiden victory at Group level.

The experience galloper made his racing debut in April of 2010 under the care of Robert Harvey and recorded three wins from five race starts as a three-year-old, but he was unable to replicate that form as a four-year-old or five-year-old and he was plagued by injuries.

Global Flirt returned to winning form in October of 2012 and he made his black type racing debut with a narrow win in the Listed Towton Cup (2200m) before he finished a close third behind Mr Moet in the Perth Cup.

The tough stayer failed to fire in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m), Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) and Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) during his 2013 winter campaign and he failed to defend his title in the Towton Cup, but was not disgraced when sixth behind Black Tycoon in the Perth Cup.

Global Flirt has recorded ten wins from his 55 career starts and has now accumulated over $400,000 in prizemoney for connections.
