Young jockey Sam Clipperton has delivered a ride beyond his years to partner three-year-old Peeping to success over a talented field in the Listed The Sebring (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens this afternoon.

Jumping from the gates well, Clipperton settled Peeping in prime position on the heels of the race’s early leaders Princefamous and Mr Bogart, who set a reasonable tempo away from the barriers and rounding the bend.
Taking up the pace around 400m from the post, the Redoute’s Choice filly locked in a keen sprint battle with Music Magnate and Mr Bogart, but kept finding to secure a maiden black type win.
Clipperton was quick to praise the efforts of his talented partner in the victory immediately after crossing the line in The Sebring.
“This filly has just been going super,” Clipperton said.
“When we got her from Day one she’s just really impressed us, she’s the ultimate little professional and just wants to please you.
“Today I got a lovely run; it was a bit tactical early but I was able to slot in and get the gun run, and she travelled well.
“What I was most impressed about was her last 100m when she was challenged – she just really pinned the ears and wanted to win.”
Trainer Ron Quinton was bullish of Peeping’s chance in The Sebring and was particularly impressed by the ride delivered by Clipperton in the success.
“From the first time I saw her I told the owner Tom Kelly, I said ‘this is a racehorse’, and she’s come a long way in a short time,” Quinton said.
“We were a bit lucky because the draw didn’t look great for us because all the speed was inside us, but as races often pan out, Sam just popped her in the right posie and rode her a treat.”
Having progressed from a close second in the Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m) two weeks ago, Quinton said the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) on Day 1 of The Championships will likely figure as the next point of call for Peeping.
“Probably the PJ Bell in a couple of weeks,” he said.
“She’s only a light-framed filly but she’s got plenty of guts.”
Yet to finish outside the top three over her short but impressive racing career, Peeping has claimed three wins and two minors from a total of five starts.
