Crown Of Coureuse prepared by the strong Patinack team took out Queensland’s first two-year-old race of the season, the $75,000 Fitton Insurance Hopeful Plate over 1000 metres on Saturday night at Clifford Park Toowoomba.

The two year old bay filly started at $21 and scored by 3.3 lengths from $2.20 race favourite Canningly (G.Colless) with Prefect (L Cumberland) a further length away 3rd.

Patinack’s stable representative on the night, Chris Hull said, “Her preparation gave a good indication of what she could do. She’s a very sensible filly. She was only beaten by a length and a half in the trial in Toowoomba last week,” Hull went on to say, we have all the facilities at our base in the south east Queensland town of Canungra to trial their own horses”.

Trainer John Thompson heads the Patinack team and the Queensland team is under the watchful eye Brett Killion.

Gold Coast jockey Matthew Palmer who took the ride said, “Mid race she travelled well, but once I gave her a squeeze she moved along”.

Crown Of Coureuse is by Beautifil Crown (USA) out of the dam Coureuse (AUS) who is a daughter to former Golden Slipper winner Tierce and is closely related to black type winners Pirouettes and Sichuan Success.
