Promising filly Pasadena Girl overcame a tough run in transit to record an impressive win in the 2015 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.
Pasadena Girl was stuck in an awkward position in the early stages of the Breeders Stakes and she received a nasty check at the 600 meter mark, while David Hayes-trained Air Apparent received a lovely run in transit.

Jockey Vlad Duric was forced to take Pasadena Girl to the outside at the 400 metre mark and she lost a couple of lengths on her rival, but she responded well when she was asked for an extra effort to claim her second race win from as many race starts.
Duric admitted after the race that he knew he would need some luck in running in the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes and he was thrilled with the way that daughter of Savabeel hit the line in the final stages of the race.
“She has just got the best temperament and she is a real class act,” Duric said.
“It is lovely to be able to get on her.
“I knew that I was going to need a little bit of luck, but luckily when the gaps came she had a blistering turn-of-foot.
“The track is in great order and it is definitely going to race a touch better off the fence.”
Trainer Peter Moody has been impressed with Pasadena Girl since she joined his stable ahead of the start of the racing career and he was one of the few people that weren’t surprised when she made her racing debut with a win in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on February 21.
Moody believes that Pasadena Girl confirmed that she was a horse to follow with her win in the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes this afternoon and he feels that the juvenile will be an even better horse as a three-year-old.
“She stamped herself with a bit of class today,” Moody said.
“There was a slight question mark over the opposition the other day, but some of these fillies carry Blue Diamond form.
“She was going backwards and sideways at the 200 and she was still able to get out and beat her.
“We had a healthy opinion of her before her first run and we are walking away with a healthier one post today.
“She is doing what her pedigree suggests she probably shouldn’t be doing and that leads you to think that she has a very good future ahead of her.
“We will approach today like we did the last one and commonsense says that she will be in the paddock, but I said that after he last run.”
Blue Diamond Stakes runner Air Apparent produced another strong effort, but is still chasing a maiden race win after being narrowly denied by Pasadena Girl.
