Shinn was aboard Pariah when he chased home the Gerald Ryan trained Menari when second in the Group 2 $200,000 The Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

Menari had a 1kg weight advantage in The Run To The Rose and Shinn said back at equal weights and up to the 1400m in Golden Rose will give Pariah his chance to reverse the placings.

“He travelled beautifully but Menari had 1kg difference. In saying that, full credit to the winner he was too good on the day, but level weights at 1400m in the Golden Rose, it’s going to be an exciting race,” said Shinn.

Shinn has ridden the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Pariah four times and the pair combined for a first up win in the Group 3 $150,000 TPG Telecom San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on August 26.

Pariah’s other win was for Kerrin McEvoy on debut in the Group 3 $150,000 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on January 28.

Menari’s win in The Run To The Rose impressed his trainer Gerald Ryan as well as the bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au who locked in the Snitzel colt at the top of the Golden Rose market order at $2.40 with Pariah on the second line of betting at $7.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained colt Gold Standard is also in the mix at $9 after scoring a convincing win in the Group 2 $200,000 Kari Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

On the fourth line of betting at $10 is Ciaron Maher’s unbeaten colt Merchant Navy who made it four wins from four starts with his tough first up win in the Group 3 $150,000 H.D.F McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on September 2.

Early market order at Ladbrokes.com.au for the 2017 Golden Rose: $2.40 Menari, $7 Pariah, $9 Gold Standard, $10 Merchant Navy, $11 Kementari, $15 Chauffeur, Formality, Invader, $21 Assimilate, Sanctioned, Trapeze Artist, $26 Dracarys, Shogun Gun, Taking Aim., $34 or better the rest.
