Pane In The Glass is a surprise nomination for the Crown Oaks

Talented sprinter Pane In The Glass has been nominated for the prestigious VRC Crown Oaksin November, despite never having covered more than 1,600 metres in her past runs.

Pane In The Glass finished second in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes last start behind Streama at Rosehill in what was her third race of the spring.

The Testa Rossa three-year-old was ridden by international jockey Joao Moreira in her last two starts and it is rumoured he is looking to continue to ride her for the rest of the spring.

“Well, he won on Trusting but he asked could he come back to ride the filly,” trainer John Thompson said.

“He is keen to keep his association with her.”

Pane In The Glass has won four of her ten starts to date and has accrued more than $625,000 in prize money.

Last season’s star two-year-olds Mosheen, Metonymy and Hallowell Belle also feature amongst the 69 nominations for the $1 million Crown Oaks.

Additionally, Makybe Diva’s $1.2 million daughter La Dolce Diva has been nominated for an Oaks appearance.

The Fusaichi Pegasus three-year-old has currently only had one start when finishing seventh in a Geelong maiden in June.

La Dolce Diva is due to begin her spring racing campaign in the coming days, with the well-bred filly nominated for three races across Victoria and South Australia.
