Outreach will make his racing debut in the 2015 Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill Gardens this weekend and co-trained Paul Snowden is expecting the well-bred to equit himself well in the Group 3 event.

Outreach is a full-brother to 2013 Golden Slipper winner Overreach and he impressed onlookers when he finished second behind the highly-rated Sebring Sun in a barrier trial over 800 metres at Warwick Farm on January 8 before he defeated a number of his rivals in the Canonbury Stakes this weekend in another trial at Rosehill Gardens on January 20.

Snowden told Racing Ahead that Outreach is a very fit horse going into his racing debut and he is confident that the son of Exceed And Excel will be more than competitive against the likes of Vancouver in the Canonbury Stakes this weekend.

“We earmarked this race for him a long time ago and he has had two trials,” Snowden said.

“He is quiet a laidback customer and he is not 1000 metre squib style of horse, he has a few gears up his sleeve.

“It is really going to be interesting.

“He is meeting a fairly solid field on Saturday, but fitness wise he is quiet forward and if we do get a heavy track on Saturday I daresay I hope that fitness will kick in at the 100.

“There are a couple of exposed horses there; Hawkes horse goes quiet well which he trialed against and Gai’s horse won the Breeders so there is a little bit of form there in the field.

“I really think that he will equit himself well.”

Overreach showed plenty of early speed when she took out races like the Listed Widden Stakes (1100m), Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) during her juvenile season and Snowden said that Outreach has the same speed as his sister and will likely take up the running in the Canonbury Stakes this weekend.

“That is his forte just like her, they have good gate speed and they travel up on the speed and they can quicken off it,” Snowden said.

“We won’t be taking that advantage away from him, that is his asset and he will be ridden accordingly.”

Outreach remains in the entries for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) that will be held at Caulfield on February 28 and Snowden confirmed that the two-year-old could be sent to Melbourne for the Group 1 event if he performs well in the Canonbury Stakes this weekend.

Outreach is currently available at 2015 Canonbury Stakes odds of $3.20 and has been the best-backed runner in betting for the Group 3 event with Ladbrokes.
