Racing New South Wales Stewards ordered an inspection of Our Ivanhowe after he pulled up lame after ploughing through the mud to win the Group 1 $700,000 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

Co-trainer Lee Freedman was confident that Our Ivanhowe has responded to treatment but Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian, Dr Craig Suann failed to give the seven year old the all clear to take his place in The BMW.

Because Rosehill is currently rated a heavy 10 with more rain on the radar and there is a remote possibility that the meeting will be called off and postponed, Our Ivanhowe won’t be officially scratched until Saturday morning which will allow him to be reinstated into The BMW field if it is to be run at a later date.

Racing New South Wales released the following statement this afternoon.

“Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian, Dr Craig Suann, this afternoon examined Our Ivanhowe and found the gelding to be lame in the off-fore leg and is NOT fit to take its place in Saturday’s Group 1 BMW.

“Having regard to the provisions of AR115 Our Ivanhowe will be officially withdrawn from Saturday’s The BMW tomorrow morning.”

Another heavy track in The BMW was going to favour Our Ivanhowe who is currently on the second line of betting at $4 at Ladbrokes.com.au behind last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Jameka at $3.80.

Lee Freedman and his brother, co-trainer Anthony, will still have a runner in The BMW with Exospheric who is marked at $9.50.

Exospheric doesn’t have as good wet track form as Our Ivanhowe but is peaking for The BMW after running home from back in the field to finish third behind Humidor and Jameka in the Group 1 $1.5m Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 11.
