Miss Marx

Trainer John O’Shea has employed local apprentice Shaun Guymer to ride Miss Marx at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

”I’ve watched him a bit and he rode a nice race to win on one for (trainer) Ronnie Quinton last Saturday at Kembla Grange,” O’Shea said.

”I gave Ronnie a ring, and he was more than glowing in his praise for Shaun.

“He thought he would be up to Saturday class, and there is no better judge than Ronnie.

“She is an easy ride, she box seats. He’ll have no trouble with her.”

Guymer will be able to claim three kilograms for his ride on Miss Marx.

”She is paying for her consistency with big weights,” O’Shea said.

”The three kilo claim will help her.”

Miss Marx won her race first-up this preparation and has since finished second in her past two starts.

O’Shea will also run Duke Of Cornwall at Warwick Farm tomorrow, who has won two of his four race starts.

“A really talented little horse,” O’Shea said of the Encosta De Lago gelding.

”He has good form when you go through it.

“He did run second early on behind Joe Pride’s good horse Rain Affair, which is going to start short on Saturday.

“Mine didn’t beat much the other the day but he has made good improvement.”

The trainer also has Honest Lies competing in the last race of the day, who does not handle the wet ground.

”Unfortunately for poor old Honest Lies, he hates wet tracks,” O’Shea said.

Last start winner Kiss ‘N Chase will represent John O’Shea at Warwick Farm and will be stepping up to the mile for the first time.

”She finally got a track with the cut out of it,” O’Shea said.

”She is stepping up to the mile, and I expect it to suit her.

“You’ll find mares holding their form tend to continue on with it.”

O’Shea will run Fist Of Fury, who was due to be sold to stud before the sale fell through.

The trainer is hopeful a favourable barrier draw will lead to a winning performance from Fist Of Fury.

”He has had the benefit of one run back from a spell and a barrier trial at Rosehill on Monday,” he said.

”He has drawn well in barrier three.”
