Trainer John O’Shea agrees with the 2015 Golden Rose Stakes betting market and he believes that Exosphere is his best winning chance in the Group 1 event at Rosehill Gardens this weekend.

Exosphere failed to beat home a single runner in the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21, but he returned to racing with an outstanding performance in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 29.

O’Shea believes that Exosphere is the horse to beat in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m), but he believes that the son of Lonhro may need some luck in running when he jumps from the inside gate.

“We are really happy and optimistic with all three runners,” O’Shea said.

“I think that the market has got it right, but we are just going to need luck with Exosphere.

“He is a talented horse and we have been really happy with him coming into the race.

“For me he presents with an awkward barrier in two and he is going to need a little bit of luck in running and a good McDonald ride to get him into the finish.

“He will either come to the outside or cut the corner and ride for a bit of luck.

“We will just leave that to James.

“He has made nice improvement with the run under his belt and he worked well during the week.”

Shards is currently available at 2015 Golden Rose Stakes odds of $11 and is on the fourth line of betting after he returned to the races with a fast-finishing victory in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) at Royal Randwick on August 22.

The Medaglia D’Oro colt beat a quality field to take out a benchmark event over 1350 metres at Rosehill Gardens on June 13 and O’Shea believes that the three-year-old is set to get a lovely run in transit in the Golden Rose Stakes.

“He presents with good stats over 1400 metres at Rosehill Gardens,” O’Shea said.

“He looks to map very well in the race and he has come on since his first-up win.”

Exosphere is currently available at 2015 Golden Rose Stakes odds of $3 with Ladbrokes and he remains a narrow favourite from Press Statement ($3.20), Speak Fondly ($4.40), Shards ($11), Sebring Sun ($14), Holler ($14), Rageese ($17) and Let’s Make It Rain ($31).
