Oscietra has only been seen at the races once, when she finished third behind Limestone and Miss Wahoo at Flemington on New Year’s Day, but she has obviously impressed co-trainer David Hayes at home and is building towards a return to the races.

Black Caviar never raced over 1600 metres and was only once tested at 1400 metres – when she won the Group 1 Orr Stakes – and it will be interesting to see what kind of distance Oscietra is able to get out over during her 2017 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

The Lindsay Park team have included a number of classy fillies in the 2017 Thousand Guineas nominations and their entries are headlined by Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy.

Catchy has not been seen at the races since she had excuses when she failed to fire in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 18, but she is a chance of returning to the races in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 19.

Other Lindsay Park-trained runners in the 2017 Thousand Guineas nominations include Formality, Madeenaty, Outboard Motors, Ploverset, Sanadaat and Wanted Diva.

Another trainer with plenty of fillies in the 2017 Thousand Guineas nominations is leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller, who is chasing his second win in the Group 1 event after previously winning with Amicus in 2014.

Waller will keep his options open with his big team of horses during the 2017 Spring Racing Carnival and the likes of Aonair, Cadencia, Colosimo, Cook Straight, Faith In Hand, High Low Bet, La Chica Rosa, Raw Emotion, Tavisfaction and Wild About Her are all a chance of making the trip to Melbourne.

One of the most interesting horses in the 2017 Thousand Guineas field is Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Woman.

Woman is a daughter of Frankel out of star mare More Joyous that is yet to make her racing debut following a pair of barrier trials at Royal Randwick earlier this year.

A total of 237 horses have been included in the 2017 Thousand Guineas nominations and the first acceptances will be released on September 12.
