Ortensia’s younger brother for sale

No one ever knocks back a win but some are better timed than others.

Magic Millions graduate Ortensia (Testa Rossa-Aerate’s Pick) finally delivered on her Group 1 promise when taking out the Group 1 $500,000 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on Saturday.

The win was celebrated the same connections who were heartbroken after her previous Group One win in the Galaxy was stripped after she returned a swab irregularity.
The news was also well received by Riverside Stud (Mount Compass, South Australia) who will be sending Ortensia’s younger brother to the January Magic Millions main sale at the Gold Coast.

Ortensia’s impressive race record currently stands at 10 wins and seven minor placings from just 29 starts with $1.5m in earnings.

Aerate’s Pick was unraced but has thrown two winners of the four eligible to race – the fourth is a two-year-old, the fifth, the chestnut colt going to the sale.

Ortensia’s third dam Rule The Turf was a half-sister to Eau D’etoile who produced outstanding gallopers Bint Marscay and Filante among others.

There is more black-type closer up in the colt’s pedigree with two Group 3 winners Intellegent Star and BlazeThe Turf from his second dam Aerate.

Testa Rossa will be well represented at the main sale having 35 yearlings catalogued.

The yearling colt is being prepared by Woodside Park on behalf of Riverside Stud and will go under the hammer on January 13.
