Globetrotting mare Ortensia could chase more international success this year with trainer Paul Messara entering her for the Group 1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) in Singapore.

Ortensia is the highest profile of eight Australian gallopers nominated for Singapore’s biggest sprint which will take place on May 19.

The seven-year-old proved her ability to travel and win last year when taking out Group 1 races in Dubai and the UK.

The Testa Rossa mare has failed to replicate that form in two starts this campaign, beating just two runners home in the Oakleigh Plate and one in the Newmarket Handicap.

But trainer Paul Messara has rejected claims that she can no longer make an impact as a racehorse.

“Ortensia has come through Newmarket without harm. She will return to Sydney to race. She still wants to be a racehorse,” Messara said on twitter earlier this week.

“The day Ortensia has had enough, she will be retired. But that day has not come. Excessive interference last sat [Saturday] was the only difference.”

Queensland trainer Tony Gollan has entered consistent brothers Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom.

Spirit Of Boom showed he is a sound traveller when finishing third in Perth’s Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes in November while Temple Of Boom delivered Gollan his first Group 1 win in last year’s Galaxy.

Winterbottom runner-up Power Princess has also been entered for Perth trainer Simon Miller.

Chris Waller has nominated five-year-old mare Red Tracer who is likely to run in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic on Saturday week after toughing out a win in the Millie Fox Stakes earlier this month.

Other Australian horses entered are Group 1 winner Atomic Force, four-year-old entire African Pulse and lightly-raced mare Lady Melksham.
