Ocean Embers was settled towards the tail of the field for the second start in a row by jockey Dwayne Dunn and once again she showed a most impressive turn-of-foot to record another stunning win.

Dwayne Dunn was quick to pay credit to the work of Regan Bayliss and trainer Shea Eden and he is confident that the talented mare still has plenty of improvement as she gets further into her racing career.

Ocean Embers delivered Shea Eden his first ever Group victory in the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes and he was clearly delighted to see the Beneteau mare justify his pre-race confidence in her.

Eden said that he plans to be patient with Ocean Embers and he plans to head towards the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on September 17 before a potential tilt at the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate eve.

“It is a career defining moment,” Eden said

“To win my first black-type race with this filly is very special and I am very proud of everybody that stuck by me.

“It really is not like me to be overly confident and I as I said earlier if I had these horses as good as her previously I would have something to gauge her off, but I’ve never had a horse as good as she is.

“All I could gauge her off was her work and I knew that she had improved after that last run.

“Her demeanour and her attitude around the place has just been exceptional.

“I want to be a little bit careful, she is getting there really quick and she is only tiny.

“The plan is now to head to the How Now in three weeks, so she will have an easy week and then it is business as normal for the next two weeks leading into that.

“It might sound sill, but a race like the Manikato could be an option.

“She will have no weight and we will have a crack.

“She has had plenty of issues in her time and we just want to make the most of her while we have got her.”

Thames Court returned to the races with a tough second right on the speed, while Telopea hit the line strongly after not having a great deal of luck in running.
