So You Think

Trainer Aidan O'Brien has not decided on a jockey for So You Think

Coolmore trainer Aidan O’Brien has continued to withhold his decision on who will gain the ride aboard So You Think in this Saturday’s Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

So You Think will not be ridden by regular English jockey Ryan Moore who has previous commitments to ride Workforce in the same race.

With jockeys such as Australians Hugh Bowman and Steven Arnold in the running for the sought after ride, everyone is eager for O’Brien to make a swift decision.

However, it appears the choice may be between jockeys Joseph O’Brien and Seamie Heffernan.

“We’ll see how he is and we’ll sit down and chat about it,” O’Brien said.

“Joseph (O’Brien) rides him out every day, Seamie (Heffernan) rides him in all his work, and Seamie rode him the day he won the first time at the Curragh.”

O’Brien said the bigger question was whether or not So You Think would take to the track at all for Saturday’s race.

“I don’t think there’s any scarcity of riders, so we’ll decide if he’s going to run or not first and then we can talk about who is going to ride him,” he said.

The trainer insisted that So You Think has pulled up well from his second place finish in the Tattersall’s Cup last start, where he was beaten at Ascot by Rewilding after a failed attempt at setting a pacemaker.

“We’re delighted with him and everything has been good since Ascot.” O’Brien said.

So You Think is one of eight acceptances for Saturday’s Eclipse Stakes, with Ed Dunlop’s Snow Fairy shaping up to be one of So You Think’s toughest oppositions.

Like O’Brien, Dunlop is choosing to wait before he makes a decision on whether or not to run the multiple Group 1-winning filly.

“She seems fine and has started back cantering,” Dunlop said of Snow Fairy’s recent trip to Ireland.

“She lost quite a bit of weight because of the journey, but she is putting it back on rapidly.”

Dunlop is also preparing for the possibly of bad weather at Sandown in the coming days.

“I have also entered her in the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock, just in case something weird happened with the weather,” he said.

“I think she’ll run somewhere this weekend as long as I’m happy with her.”
