Not A Dancer To Prove She Is A Contender

The Caulfield program has so much to offer tomorrow including the likes of the Caulfield Guineas, Caulfield Stakes and of course Black Caviar in the Schillaci Stakes that it’s easy to overlook a few of the support events throughout the day.

One such race is the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes, a 1200m contest for some of the most promising up and coming three year old fillies.

An intriguing field of nine has been assembled for the race and will include two first starters alongside others that are very lightly raced.

Not A Dancer for Mathew Dale has had just the three race starts but that’s enough to give her an edge in experience over a few of her rivals.

Combine that with the fact  she’s managed to win two of those three, the most recent by a huge margin, and she becomes a real threat in the $125,000 event.

“We’ve always had an opinion of the filly, she’s two wins from three starts, both at Wagga and have been impressive,” Dale said.

He says although coming from Wagga to Caulfield black type may seem like a big step he’s in the same boat as plenty of the others.

“It is only practically a class 2 three year old fillies race against their own age and own sex,” he said.

“Predominantly the horses have won their maidens through the provincials.”

He does acknowledge there’s one query on her though, that’s the jump to the 1200m form the 1000m.

“She’s a big scopey filly…her breeding suggests on her dams side that she will stretch out to further,” he said.

“There is a question mark there though.”

Not A Dancer drew gate one for the race, something that’s expected to suit her racing style perfectly.

“We’ll use her pace, she’s a natural jump and run horse,” he said.

“We’ll have a good look at the track in race one and work out a plan from there.”

In terms of her progress since her Wagga win on September 23rd though it’s all systems go.

“She hasn’t missed a beat since Wagga, travelled down beautifully last night,” he said.
