Nobby Snip Storms Home in Fireball Quality

Gai Waterhouse trained Nobby Snip fought back from two lengths behind on the final straight to take out top honours in the Listed Fireball Quality at Rosehill today.

Didntcostalot got off to a flying start from the inside barrier and led for almost the whole race and as they came in to the bend, the colt had a two length lead on the short priced favourite.

With 50 metres to go, jockey Tommy Berry pushed Nobby Snip hard and he responded impressively, eventually taking victory by more than a length.

It was an impressive ride from Berry who at one stage looked to have left it a little too late, but the gelding showed he deserved his $1.70 pre race favouritism with a strong effort at the back end.

Nobby Snip was coming off a win in the Pony Express Holdings on February 17 and takes his career record to four wins from six outings.

Outside of the top two finishers, no other horse looked a chance in the $100,000 Listed event.

Chris Waller trained Velrosso was the eventual third placing.
