No Evidence Needed Withdrawn From Doomben 10,000

No Evidence Needed has been scratched from the Doomben 10,000

The Doomben 10,000 field has become even smaller after the withdrawal of No Evidence Needed was announced this morning due to a swollen leg.

No Evidence Needed finished fourth last start in the BTC Cup and this was due to be four-year-old mare’s final run before competing in the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap on June 11 at Eagle Farm.

The Shamardal mare has won five of her 22 career starts, and despite not winning a race in the past eight runs, she has shown great form of late and has finished close to the front in the majority of her races.

With the field plagued by scratchings, only seven runners remain in the contest for the $650,000 Doomben 10,000.

The first high profile scratching came when Black Caviar was withdrawn from the field after she did not satisfactorily recover from her BTC Cup run.

The latest scratching came yesterday afternoon when short-priced favourite Hay List was removed from the race due to what is now believed to be a minor foot abscess.

Hay List still remains as a possible contender for the Stradbroke Handicap, with trainer John McNair waiting to see how the gelding recovers before making a final decision.

Peter Snowden’s Beaded has now taken the place of race favourite in today’s unusually small field.
