Trainer Nigel Blackiston is confident that classy mare You’re So Good can begin her spring campaign with a victory in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield tomorrow.
You’re So Good had a highly successful debut preparation and quickly progressed to being competitive in a number of quality races.
The daughter of Savabeel won on debut at Moonee Valley in December and finished an unlucky second behind Alzora at just her third start in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) at Flemington in February.
She made the jump up to Group 1 level in the Australian Guineas (1600m), finishing a close second behind Ferlax, and recorded her first victory at black type level in the Listed Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley before finishing her campaign with an eighth place finish behind Norzita in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).
You’re So Good will take on a tough field in the Cockram Stakes on Saturday but Blackiston believes it will be the start of a successful spring for his star galloper.
“I’m extremely happy with her, she has come back in great order,” Blackiston told Racing Ahead on RSN.
“She has grown, matured and had two very good trials.
“There is so much speed in the race even if she is three wide and in the front half a dozen I’m hoping that she will be too strong for them.”
The Flemington-based trainer has already penciled in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m), on September 7 at her home track, as the next race start for You’re So Good and if she performs well in both events a start in the 2013 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley is not out of the question.
Blackiston is chasing his first victory at Group level since two-time Group 1 winner Littorio was successful in the Group 2 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) in 2011.
