Sent out at the long odds of $31, the James Cummings trained Yattarna was taken straight to the front by jockey Glyn Schofield and was never headed for the remainder of the race to record a half a length win.

No More Tears ($10) with Hugh Bowman in the saddle ran on from the back with the well fancied Lady Sniper ($6.50) trying hard to fill third spot.

Cummings said that Yattarna was set to head to the paddock after finishing second in a 1350m Wyong BenchMark 72 on March 30 but after galloping impressively last Saturday received a reprieve and came up with a Group 3 win to add value to her future days as a brood mare.

“I am really proud of the team that they have been able to muster together a really good team of horses that are just a bit below the champs for this Carnival. A horse like Yattarna has done a great job her owners.”

“She has tripled her value today. This is outstanding, not just the prizemoney, great for the owners.”

“The filly was nearly going to the paddock after she was beaten at Wyong last start. But we saved her up and let her go around in a very good course proper gallop last Saturday morning.”

“I knew win lose or draw whatever she did today she will be in the paddock.”

The short priced Carr Stakes favourite Pearls ($2.20) was slow to leave the barriers and was always in the second half of the field and found little in the straight under the urgings of James McDonald to end up in seventh spot, just over two lengths from the winner.
