The Brisbane weather will decide the fate of short priced favourite That’s A Good Idea in the Listed $100,000 One Key Resources Keith Noud Handicap (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Father and son trainers Peter and Paul Snowden are hoping to find a dry tack at Doomben but if the forecast showers arrive and the track is too rain affected, the speedy six year old will be scratching.
“He has been accepted for the Keith Noud but he won’t run if the track is badly rain-affected. He really needs it bone dry to do his best,” Paul Snowden told AAP.
“We will wait until the last minute to make our decision and hopefully the weather will improve.”
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a cloudy Friday for Brisbane with showers and a possible thunder storm on the radar for Saturday.
That’s A Good Idea has been lumped with 60.5kg with top local jockey Damian Browne booked to ride, but the Flying Spur six year old’s eight wins have all come on a good racing surface.
At six attempts on rain affected tracks, That’s A Good Idea has been placed once from five starts on the soft and was out of the prizemoney all together from one start on a heavy track.
That’s A Good Idea has been placed at his last three starts, including a second over this course and distance to Ball Of Muscle in the Group 2 $175,000 Magic Millions QTC Cup (1200m) during the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Then after a break That’s A Good Idea resumed for a third to top line sprinter Terravista in the Group 2 $300,000 G1X.com.au Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 3 followed by a second to stablemate Dothraki in the Listed $150,000 City Tattersalls Club Lightning (1100m) two weeks later at the same venue.
That’s A Good Idea currently heads the market order at $2.40 for the Keith Noud Handicap at Ladbrokes.com.au.
The Doug Roberts trained Charge Account is on the second line of betting at $7 ahead of Steel Zip at $8.50 and 2014 Queensland Oaks winner Tinto and the Tony Gollan trained Whiskey Allround both at $10.
