A Warwick Farm track inspection today by New South Wales racing officials has given the green light for the Chipping Norton Stakes day to go ahead.

A sunny day in Sydney is the catalyst rain soaked Warwick Farm needed to guarantee the meeting goes ahead albeit on a heavy surface.

Track manager James Cataldo inspected the track this morning with deputy chairman of Stewards Greg Rudolph and came up with a heavy 9 rating and now with a good drying day the track will continue to improve.

“The track is rated a heavy (9) but up at the start of the 1400 metre chute it’s a heavy (10),” Cataldo said.

“I’d be doing the form for a heavy track but with this good weather it will continue to improve.”

As well as the Group 1 $350,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m),  Warwick Farm is also hosting the Group 2 $175,000 Surround Stakes (1400m) and the Group 3 $125,000 Liverpool City Cup (1300m).

The weather for the next couple of days is looking good with a fine day forecast for today and a few light showers are tipped for Saturday.

Canberra’s track for Sunday’s Black Opal meeting has been rated a heavy 9 today and with clearing conditions a track upgrade is on the cards.
