European trained Group 1 winners Vadamos and Tryster are set to take on Australia’s wonder mare Winx in the Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 22.
The Andre Fabre trained French galloper Vadamos and the Godolphin owned Tryster from Charlie Appleby’s Newmarket stables will enter quarantine this week and arrive in Australia on October 1.
“It’s a fantastic result to have two international horses confirmed to compete in one of Australia’s most prestigious races prepared by globally renowned trainers Andre Fabre and Godolphin’s Charlie Appleby,” Racing Victoria’s international recruitment manager Leigh Jordon said.
“Vadamos was a dominant winner in the Group 1 Qatar Prix Du Moulin Longchamp recently and has campaigned really well this preparation and brings some strong international form to the race.”
“Godolphin continue to show their hunger to win Australia’s premier races and Tryster reignites their Cox Plate participation – he has been highly competitive at Group 1 company this year and holds an exceptional 2000 metre record.”
Vadamos is currently rated a $21 chance at Ladbrokes.com.au after winning the Group 1 €450,000 QATAR Prix Du Moulin De Longchamp (1600m) at Chantilly, France on September 11.

The Chris Waller trained Winx is a $2.40 favourite to win back to back Cox Plates and is chasing her eleventh win on the trot when she lines up in the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White Stakes (George Main Stakes) (1600m) at Randwick this Saturday.
