Those who have backed unraced filly Urban Groove to win the $2m Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at Gold Coast on January 14 have done their money cold.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper has been sent to the spelling paddock and will miss the two-year-old feature.

The daughter of Charge Forward and Morton was backed from $26 into $14 when fixed price Classic betting opened a fortnight after a trial win at Warwick Farm on November 28.

She still remains around that price with bookies throughout Australia.

Natasha Kent, spokesperson for the Waterhouse yard, confirmed Urban Groove was in the spelling paddock and not heading north.

The filly was due to run in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic but missed the December 22 date.

Waterhouse will still be well represented in the Classic with equal favourite Driefontein.

The Fastnet Rock-Follow Gold filly joined Sizzling at $3.50 with TABsportsbet after beating him in the Group 3 Bruce McLachlan (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

The time was fast and broke the race record held by Mr Innocent for 14 years.

It also compared closely with the time of smart three-year-old Audacious Spirit who won over the same distance an hour before at Doomben in easy fashion.

Waterhouse believes Driefontein has Sizzling’s measure and has nominated Amorino as a bigger danger.

The Gerald Ryan-trained galloper impressively won the Summer Super Saver Hcp (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

It was taken on in the early and middle stages of the race but held rivals comfortably at bay on the line.

“He (Amorino) won the two-year-old race there on Saturday by some margin and he certainly looks the horse to beat when they clash,” Waterhouse said.

TABsportsbet have Amorino third favourite for the Classic at $5 ahead of $12 chances Hoss Amor (Wyong Classic winner) and the Mark Kavanagh-trained Alezan Thunder who showed a good turn of foot to win the Swettenham Stud Dash For Cash Plate (900m) at Sandown-Hillside on Christmas Eve.
