Outsider Typing finished over the top of her rivals to record an impressive victory in the 2015 Dalrello Stakes at Toowoomba this afternoon.

There was plenty of early speed in the Dalrello Stakes as a number of jockeys attempted to take up the running, but Jim Byrne was happy to settle Typing towards the tail of the field and allow her to find her feet.

Ben Currie was very bullish about the chances of Jam Toast before the Dalrello Stakes and the two-year-old produced a strong on-pace effort, but looked like a sitting duck at the 200 metre mark when Montana Star and In His Stride loomed on the outside.

In His Stride hit the front at the 150 metre mark and looked like the winner, but Typing stormed down the extreme outside of the track and he showed an impressive turn-of-foot in the final stages of the race to run away from In His Stride and Jam Toast to score a maiden black type win in the Dalrello Stakes.

Typing made his racing debut with a seventh place finish in the Auscredits Maiden Plate (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on March 14 and she performed well in both the Channel 7 Handicap (1200m) at Ipswich on March 25 and the Racing Retro Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on April 4, but she produced easily the best performance of her career in the Dalrello Stakes this afternoon.

The Sebring filly was included in the 2015 J.J. Atkins nominations that were released by Racing Queensland earlier in the week and she could contest races like the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 9 and the Group 2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1350m) at the same venue on May 23.

In His Stride was well-backed in the lead-up to the Dalrello Stakes and was no match for Typing in the final stages of the race, but still produced another impressive effort in what has been a successful maiden racing campaign.

The Rothesay colt performed well without winning in races like the Brisbane Marriott Hotel Handicap (1110m) at Doomben in December last year and the Toowoomba Magic Millions Plate (1050m) on New Year’s Eve before he finally broke through for a maiden race win at Doomben on April 22.

In His Stride was not included in the 2015 J.J. Atkins nominations and could be sent for a well-deserved stint in the spelling paddock.
