A win at Canterbury today for Brazen Moss will see the three year old head to the Gold Coast to run in the $1m Magic Millions 3yo Guineas (1400m) on January 10.

But trainer Gerald Ryan said that a loss will also see Brazen Moss head to the glitter stripe for the $82,000 Magic Millions Maiden Plate (1200m) on the same day.

“If he wins he will go in the three-year-old race, the Magic Millions Guineas, and if not he will run in the Maiden,” Ryan told AAP.

“It would be great if he could win and get into the Guineas.”

Ryan has been keen to qualify Brazen Moss for the richer Magic Millions 3yo Guineas, but Mossman three year old has yet to visit the winner’s stall from seven starts.

Brazen Moss is closely related to four times Group 1 winner Buffering and has managed to record five seconds and a third and Ryan is looking for further improvement now that he has been gelded.

“He’s a three-quarter brother to Buffering and I’m told he was a handful as a young horse and needed gelding,” Ryan said.

“Hopefully it has the same effect on Brazen Moss.”

Brazen Moss raced as colt at his first six starts for five seconds and then he resumed from a spell following his operation to run third with Tye Angland in the saddle to the Gai Waterhouse trained Skylimit in the $40,000 Schweppes Maiden Plate (1200m) for the three year olds.

Angland will again hold the reins when Brazen Moss lines up in the $40,000 TAB Place Multi NMW Handicap (1250m) for three year old colts and geldings at Canterbury today and will jump from barrier seven in the ten horse field.

Brazen Moss is currently the second favourite at $5 fixed odds with Ladbrokes.com.au for his Canterbury assignment with Kris Lees trained Gold Seventy Seven heading the market order at $3.

Next in the betting is the Chris Waller trained Liberty Island at $6 ahead of Paul Perry’s Modoc at $6.50 while Ryan will also saddle up $9 chance Beaudragon.

While in Magic Millions 3yo Guineas betting Brazen Moss is listed at $17 with the Tony Gollan trained Hijack Hussy heading the betting at $5.
