Trainer Lloyd Kennewell has declared that Wroclaw will run in the 2014 Twilight Glow Stakes at Sandown on Saturday, but would not make the trip to Perth for the Western Australia Guineas (1600m) next weekend.

Wroclaw was included in the nominations for the Western Australian Guineas that were released last month after she broke her maiden with a narrow win in the John Pearce Plate (1200m) at Balaklava, but Kennewell told Racing Ahead this morning that he does not want to put the promising filly through the testing trip to Perth and she will likely head to the spelling paddock to begin preparations for the Adelaide autumn carnival.

“She won’t go,” Kennewell said of a trip to Perth for Wroclaw.

“We didn’t want to overtax her this campaign and I think she is a nice filly with a good future.

“Being by Big Brown she should be getting better with age and distance next preparation.

“I would be hoping that we could stretch her out to a 2000 metre Oaks prep in South Australia.”

Wroclaw finished in the placings in her two starts as a two-year-old in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1000m) at Morphettville Parks on April 12 and the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes (1050m) at the same venue on April 26 before she resumed with a second place in the Jacobs Creek Plate (1050m) at Balaklava on October 8.

The Big Brown filly took out the John Pearce Plate and was sent to the Melbourne for the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day and fought home bravely to finish a credible fourth.

Kennewell said that Wroclaw did not receive the easiest run in transit in the Lexus Hybrid Plate and he believes performance was even better than it looked to the naked eye.

“It was solid,” Kennewell said.

“She was exposed a long way from home and I actually didn’t want to see her that close a long way from home.

“At the furlong she was there to run seventh, eighth or ninth, but she ended up just missing for third.

“I thought that she was really solid and she just had a tiny little gallop this morning and she seems really well.”

Wroclaw will take on a strong field in the 2014 Twilight Glow Stakes after the likes of Wines Tales, Muscovado, Singularity, More Radiant, Feels Like Home and Wawail were all included in the nominations for the Listed event.
