Star jockey Blake Shinn fought back tears after victory aboard his mother’s (Carol)  horse Tellora at his second ride back from a 12 month gambling related riding suspension.

The 24-year-old Melbourne Cup winning hoop had taken only two rides for the day at Sandown Lakeside both for his step-father Lee Hope.

The 2008 Melbourne Cup winning rider Blake Shinn showed he lost none of his skill at his first ride in 12 months aboard bolter Distillery at Sandown Lakeside today.

Though Distillery could only manage third placing behind Del Palio, the Shinn ride could not have been better.
