Top Queensland mare Tinto will miss the rest of the Sydney Autumn Carnival and head home before being prepared for the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.
Tinto had two runs over the Autumn for a sixth to Danesiri in the Group 3 $150,000 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on February 28 followed by a seventh to Plucky Belle, beaten less than two lengths, in the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 14.
Toowoomba trainer Rex Lipp wasn’t completely happy with the way the Red Dazzler mare was performing and thought it was best to send her to the paddock before concentrating on a Spring Carnival campaign.
“There is nothing wrong with her but I wasn’t entirely happy with the way she was going,” Lipp told AAP.
“It was only prolonging the agony to continue on with the Sydney campaign. She has been up since last September so she has done a wonderful job really.”
A spell now will also mean that Tinto will miss the chance to star again during the Brisbane Winter Carnival in her own back yard after she stole the show last year with a win in the Group 1 $400,000 Treasury Casino & Hotel Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm.
The Melbourne Spring Carnival has a host of mare’s races suitable for Tinto that Lipp said he will target.
“There are some good mares’ races for her in Melbourne in the spring,” Lipp said.
Tinto raced herself into form over the Summer prior to heading to Sydney with wins in the Listed $175,000 Bernborough Handicap (1625m) at Toowoomba on December 31 and the $170,000 Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa Magic Millions Stayers Cup (1800m) at the Gold Coast on January 10.
The four year old mare is a winner of five races from nineteen starts and has collected over $744,000 in prizemoney and bonuses for her connections.
