Berry has been booked to ride English stayer Trip To Paris for Newmarket trainer Ed Dunlop while Lane will be aboard the Roger Charlton trained Quest For More, also from the UK.

Berry and Lane were both handed seven meetings suspension which will take effect from midnight on Tuesday, allowing them to ride on Melbourne Cup Day.

Both suspensions came out of the Group 1 $1m Longines Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) with Berry aboard the Gai Waterhouse trained Ecuador pleading guilty to causing interference to Flamingo Star while Lane on Rising Romance was outed for interfering to Flamingto Star as well.

Trip To Paris put himself in Melbourne Cup calculations with a slashing second to Mongolian Khan in the Group 1 $3m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) at Caulfield on October 17 and is one of the main chances in the Melbourne Cup.

Quest For More had been under an injury cloud early in the week with a minor hoof problem but was cleared by Racing Victoria’s vet on Friday afternoon to take his place in the field.

Connections of Quest For More are confident that the English stayer can return to his best form in the Melbourne Cup after a disappointing effort to beat one runner home when sixteenth to Almoonqith in the Group 3 $300,000 Geelong Cup (2400m) at Geelong on October 21.

The Teofilo gelding’s form in England before he arrived in Australia was first class with  a win in the £140,000 John Smith’s Northumberland Plate (2 miles 19 yards) at Newcastle on June 27 followed by a second to Big Orange in the Group 2 £300,000 OATAR Goodwood Cup (2 miles) at Goodwood on July 30.

Trip To Paris is among the top Melbourne Cup fancies at $8 with behind the top Japanese stayer Fame Game who heads the market order at $3.80 while Quest For More is one of the outsiders of the field at $51.
