Streama has commenced her spring racing carnival with a 900 metre trial at Rosehill Racecourse this morning.

The Guy Walters-trained mare was partnered by regular jockey Hugh Bowman for today’s trial.

The five-year-old faced up against eight other gallopers in a field that would be worthy of some of the great Group 1 features of the spring.

While the entire field was hard held throughout the race, Streama sailed to an easy win after jumping well from the barriers in a leisurely time of 56.5 seconds.

Streama will go into the spring carnival with seven wins from 24 starts to her name, along with more than $1.67 million in prize money.

The Stratum mare placed second in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara last start behind Red Tracer.

Prior to that run, Streama finished a close third in the $1.38 million Stradbroke Handicap from an outside barrier.

Streama is expected to only have a few race starts this campaign, with her first run due to be in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm Racecourse on August 24.

Previously named Sydney Horse of The Year, Streama will be unlikely to make an appearance outside of Sydney this spring and will be spelled early in preparation for a Doncaster Handicap campaign in 2014.

While Streama claimed the winning title in today’s Rosehill trial, Sacred Falls was the second horse to pass the line.

The four-year-old recovered from a slow start to fly down the final straight, despite never being let go by jockey Tommy Berry.

Sacred Falls will be returning to racing following his impressive Group 1 Doncaster win in April.

The O’Reilly entire has won seven of his 10 race starts in trial and has earned more than $1.7 million in prize money during his career.

Sacred Falls is trained by Chris Waller and will be out to continue his premiership-winning trainer’s success going into the spring carnival.
