Unraced two year old filly Stay With Me could make a late charge towards the Group 1 $1m Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28 following an impressive jump out win at Flemington today.

Stay With Me ran a sizzling 47.31 seconds in winning her 800m jump out, just outside of Group 1 placegetter Chautauqua‘s time of 47.18 second for his 800m heat.

The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Stay With Me is out of five times Group 1 winning mare Miss Finland who was also trained by Hayes.

While Miss Finland was unable to win the Blue Diamond Stakes, she ran second to the Hayes trained Nadeem in 2006, she did collect the major two year old prize of the season with a win in the Group 1 $3m Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill.

Miss Finland’s other Group 1 wins were the Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield and the Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington during the 2006 Melbourne Spring Carnival, as well as the Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington and the Arrowfield Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill during the 2007 Autumn Carnival.

“This filly is showing nice promise,” Hayes told Racing.com.

“I don’t know if she’s her mum yet, but we’re happy with her.”

“She’s by Street Cry, not (Miss Finland’s sire) Redoute’s Choice, so we’re not under any pressure to race her, but I think her time matched up pretty well today against all the top sprinters.

“If she pulls up well I think she’s worth a crack at a Stakes race first up.”

While Hayes has made no definite plans for the Street Cry filly, he could be tempted to run her in either the Group 2 $200,000 Blue Diamond Prelude (F) (1100m) at Caulfield on February 14 or the Listed $120,000 Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington the following week.
