Howmuchdoyouloveme is poised to back up his dominant Caulfield Sprint (1100m) win in the Group 2 Yellowglen Stakes (1200m) at Flemington this Saturday after impressing in a jump-out down the straight this morning.

The big, athletic sprinter won an 800m hitout in a slick 45.35 seconds, allaying any previous concerns trainer Con Karakatsanis had about his ability to adapt to Flemington.

“Whether he would run well down the straight was always a concern but he was perfect this morning,” Karakatsanis said.

“The jump-out was really good. We’re very happy with him. He did everything right and ran good time.

“Brenton [Avdulla] got off him and was absolutely rapt.”

Howmuchdoyouloveme showed he was up to class in Melbourne when winning the Caulfield Sprint by two lengths and Karakatsanis is expecting natural improvement to allow him to handle the step up against better competition this weekend.

“The first-up win was great. I always knew he’d improve off the first-up run and I think he’s made the natural improvement for the step up in grade on Saturday,” he said.

It has been a quick rise through the ranks for the son of Written Tycoon who went through a winter campaign unbeaten with two wins in Brisbane followed by a four-length romp in the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton.

Karakatsanis admits he still doesn’t know the full potential of the four-year-old but if all goes to plan he is hoping to test him at Group 1 level on Saturday week in the Patinack Farm Classic (1200m).

“I still don’t know how good he is but hopefully we’ve got a superstar on our hands,” Karakatsanis said.

Howmuchdoyouloveme’s major rivals on Saturday include Joe Pride-trained gelding Tiger Tees and last month’s Group 2 Shorts winner Pampelonne.
