Winning trainer Gerald Ryan provided the quinella with Peace Force ($6.50) doing her best work at the finish to go down by a head with the pacemaker Calming Influence ($9) fighting on well to finish third.

The Darley Crown for the fillies and mares was originally set down to be run at Hawkesbury’s stand alone meeting last Saturday but was rescheduled to be run at Rosehill today after that meeting was washed out.

Solicit had been unplaced at three runs from a spell and Ryan took the blinkers off after the mare failed to beat a runner home when last of eleven in the Group 3 $150,000 Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Randwick on March 7.

Her recent ordinary form saw Solicit sent out at the good odds of $11 and she looked to be struggling coming the home turn when Calming Influence was looking comfortable in front.

Half way down the straight the race favourite Peron ($3.20) made a strong challenge for the lead but couldn’t get past Calming Influence with both those mares getting swamped by Solicit and her stablemate Peace Force.

Solicit has raced in top company including a second in the 2014 Group 1 $400,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill and at her best had to be very competitive at Group 3 level today.

Ryan was pleased with the way Solicit presented at the races today and said her work had been solid leading into today’s race.

“Her work has been good and solid. On her day she is a very good mare, probably above this class sort of thing but she had been struggling for a while there and we changed a few things around. We freshened her up,” Ryan said.
