The father and son combination of Peter and Paul Snowden had a red letter day at Doomben last Saturday, training a winning treble including a Group 1 victory with Hot Snitzel in the Group 1 $500,000 UBET BTC Cup (1200m).

The Snowden’s other two winners were I’ve Got The Looks in the Listed $100,000 Designline Graphics Juanmo Stakes (1200m) and Charlie Boy in the Group 3 $125,000 Darley BRC Sprint (1350m).

Snowden’s three winners were all ridden by hot Sydney jockey Blake Shinn who went on to complete a career best day with five visits to the winner’s stall.

Shinn also won on the Chris Waller trained three year old Sadler’s Lake in the Group 3 $125,000 Mitty’s Rough Habit Plate (2000m) and wrapped up a Group 1 winning double steering Pornichet to victory in the $650,000 The Bundaberg Rum Doomben Cup (2000m)  for Gai Waterhouse.

Peter Snowden is looking for improvement from Lucky Lago in the Scone Cup and has put the blinkers on the five year old mare after her disappointing run in the in a 1600m mid-week Handicap at Warwick Farm on May 6.

“I thought she lacked a bit of commitment, so we used the blinkers on her at trackwork this morning and she worked exceptionally well,’’ Snowden told The Daily Telegraph.

“They should help her in the Scone Cup on Friday.’’

Snowden is also expecting a better performance from Great Esteem following his first up fifth on a heavy track in a 1300m BenchMark 85 at Hawkesbury on May 2.

“We were pleased with his first-up run,’’ Snowden said.

Great Esteem is a winner of five races from eighteen starts and twice over the Scone Cup distance of 1600m while Lucky Lago is chasing her fourth win in the Scone Cup and has also won twice over the mile.
