The Sir Michael Stout trained stayer open up at $11 when the final field for the Caulfield Cup was released on Tuesday but with constant support since, Snow Sky has firmed into $8.50 second favourite after being $9 overnight.

Four times Caulfield winning jockey Damien Oliver will also be attracting a huge following and he is certain to give Snow Sky every chance from barrier three.

Owner Prince Khalid Abdullah’s racing manger Lord Teddy Grimthorpe can’t fault Snow Sky since he arrived from England and added that he has had a trouble free preparation at the Werribee Horse Centre where the international horses have been going through their paces while in quarantine.

“He has travelled really well, he has thrived since he got here and he has been in great form,” Grimthorpe told Racing Ahead.

“All the signs are very positive and it encouraged us to have a crack.

“It is a nice option and it is a standout race on its own.

“This is not a question of using the Caulfield Cup as a prep race, this is a main objective for him and if he performs well and comes out of it well we would love to look at Flemington.”

Ladbrokes are offering a great deal for punters having a bet early in the day on Caulfield Cup Day. If your first fixed odds win bet in races 1 – 5 wins, your will get 50% extra on your winnings on your first winner up to a maximum bet of $50.

Snow Sky was highly rated when he arrived in Australia on the back of a win at Royal Ascot two starts back in the Group 2 £200,000 Hardwicke Stakes (1 mile 4 furlongs) on June 20.

“Arguably his best race was in the Hardwicke over 2400 metres at Royal Ascot, it was on the fast side that day and he really enjoyed it.

“Obviously it is a different track and a different soil surface and I would hope that he will handle it fine.

“The Caulfield Cup is one of the great races on the world calendar and we are trying like mad to win.”

Australian Derby winner Mongolian Khan remains at the top of the Caulfield Cup market order at $4.80 with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Snow Sky at $8.50 and Crown Oaks winner Set Square at $9.
