The Gerald Ryan trained Snitzerland will be sent to the paddock after being scratched from the Group 1 $400,000 Bundaberg Distilling Co. BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday because of a shoulder injury.
Ryan reported to Racing Queensland stewards this morning that the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning winner pulled up sore after track work, leaving only seven runners in the weight for age sprint.
Racing Queensland’s passed on the information via twitter, which read “Gerald Ryan has advised RQ stewards that SNIZTERLAND is out of the BTC Cup after pulling up sore in the oftshoulder this morning.”
Ryan will still be represented in the BTC Cup with five year old Hot Snitzel who is coming off a win in the Group 3 $150,000 Ticketek Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 26 and the Rosehill trainer is not ruling out an upset win.
“The form around the horse is damn good and by the way that the race will be run up there and where he will be sitting, he is a good chance to perhaps score a bit of an upset,” Ryan said.
Snitzerland was an $8 chance this morning and her withdrawal has forced favourite Buffering’s price to shorten yet again to $2 with Ladbrokes.com.au.
The best of Tony Gollan’s two runners is Spirit Of Boom at $5 with stablemate Temple Of Boom sharing the next line of betting at $8 with Hot Snitzel just ahead of Tiger Tees at $9 followed by the two outsiders of the field Famous Seamus at $18 and Peron at $19.
