Saluter was back in the winner’s circle last start with a one and a half lengths first up victory in a 1000m Open Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on May 15.

The Commands six year is certain to gain plenty of improvement from the run which was his first since running ninth to Lucky Hussler in the $1m Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 9.

The Robert Smerdon trained Odyssey Moon is also a last start winner and comes to Queensland on the back of a win in the 1300m three year old Handicap at Sandown on June 4.

Odyssey Moon raced in top two year old company during his juvenile year and after running sixth to Vancouver in the 2015 Group 1 $3.5m Tooheys New Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill, ran second to Pride Of Dubai in the Group 1 $1m ATC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

Then at his last start as a two year old, the Snitzel colt finished sixth to Pasadena Girl in the Group 1 $400,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

Smerdon is looking for another feature race win over the Winter Carnival after taking out the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm last Saturday with five year old Under The Louvre.

Deagon trainer Michael Lakey has nominated Trubia who will find this a lot easier than his last two outings when fourth to Snippets Land in the Group 3 $125,000 Darley BRC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben on May 21 followed by an eighth to Spill The Beans in the Group 2 $175,000 MIRVAC QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm last Saturday.

Trainer Pat Duff has entered Steel Zip for the Eye Liner Stakes and the eight year old has been primed for a bold first up attempt with two recent Deagon barrier trial wins.
