A Melbourne trip is on the cards for Sessions after the four year old capped off a great day for Darley Australia by winning the Group 2 $200,000 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (1100m) at Randwick today.

Darley’s Australian trainer Peter Snowden saddled up his third winner for the day after Guelph took out the Group 2 $175,000 Coolmore Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and Barbed saluted in Listed $100,000 Schweppes Heritage Stakes (1100m).

Sessions ($3.30 favourite) was able to live up to Snowden’s expectations and lasted to win by a nose over Aeronautical ($9) who drove hard to the line late with Queenslander Temple Of Boom ($8) also finishing strongly for third, a head away.

“He ran terrific and I’m really glad about that,” Snowden said.

“He flattened out really well and hopefully he can go on from this and get to the level we’ve always thought he could get to, but his next start will tell us where we are.”

Snowden is keen to give Sessions a look at the Flemington straight and has picked out the Group 2 $220,000 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 5 as a good starting point for his Melbourne Spring Carnival campaign.

Josh Parr was excited to be able to ride a Group 2 winner for the huge Darley stable and Snowden was quick to complement the ride.

“Josh has been a big part of our team for a long time and to give him a good win like that is great,” Snowden said.

Parr wasn’t frightened to go back to the inside in the straight when most riders were scouting wide and that proved to be the winning move is holding out Aeronautical and Temple Boom who both came down the middle of the track.
